President Julius Maada Bio today departed Sierra Leone to Ghana to attend President-Elect John Dramany Mahama’s inauguration tomorrow 7 January 2024.

Bio will be among other colleague Presidents, including President Bola Tinubu, who is currently ECOWAS Chairman.

The UN, US, EU, China, Japan and Australia, will send top representatives to witness the inauguration of what is widely seen as the smoothest transition in Africa’s democratic history.

Defeated Ghana’s Presidential candidate, VP Muhammadu Bawumia, called President-Elect, John Mahama to congratulate him, even when he knew Mahama was attending church service on a Sunday morning, even before final announcement of the official results by the electoral body the following Tuesday.

Ghana has a history of smooth democratic transition devoid of litigations in courts.

Africa’s newest President-Elect has a bundle of tasks ahead, particularly the economy, that is on a downward trend.
Ghanaians voted massively for Mahama’s come back, with a slogan that “If Trump could bounce back, so Mahama.”
