Liverpool are set to sign a sensational Nigerian-Dutch left winger, Bobby Adekanye from Barcelona.

He was four years old when his parents moved from Nigeria to Amsterdam. It was in the Dutch capital that Ajax discovered him.

Just 16 years old, Adekanye is being rated as having similar attributes like the Dutch left winger, Arjen Robben.

Adekanye was a 12-year-old hopeful in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam when Barcelona signed him but because he went to Catalonia without both his parents, the transfer was one of seven that fell foul of FIFA’s rules on under-age signings and he was banned from playing competitive games for his new club until he turned 16.

Last season he was sent out on loan to PSV Eindhoven and Barca wanted him to continue developing his football education there but the player, who turned 16 in February this year, is tired of being moved about on loan, not to mention being the victim of Barcelona’s failure to obey FIFA’s rules and so he will be graduating from Liverpool’s Kirkby Academy academy instead of La Masia.

Bobby Adekanye has a huge future. Ajax were desperate to take the player on loan from Barcelona next season but theirs, and Barca’s, loss could be Brendan Rodgers’ long-term gain.

With lightning fast left winger drawing comparisons in Holland with the young Arjen Robben, the Dutch FA stepped in ahead of their Nigerian counterparts to make sure Adekanye played for them in UEFA’S youth development under-16 tournament earlier this year.
