The much-expected State of Nation (SONA) broadcast, in consonance with article 58 of the Liberian Constitution, on every 4th working Monday in January, was delivered by President Joseph Boakai today at 4 pm at the outer terrace of the Capitol building. It was due to the recent fire outbreak inside the edifice.

A few minutes after his speech to the nation, President Boakai zoomed off to Tanzania to join his colleague Presidents for the crucial Africa Energy Summit, tagged 300 million.

The SONA speech touched on all sectors of the nation, highlighting his ARREST agenda to uplift Liberians from the doldrums.

SONA is Liberia’s traditional political event, where past and present government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and esteemed members of the press, both foreign and local, are invited to hear the president speak, in cogent language, the achievements and challenges of the administration in the year.
