Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State

The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP), a forum for religious leaders, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State and security agencies to ensure quick resolution of the crisis that engulfed the state.

The Forum’s Co-chairman, Bishop Onuoha made the call at a news conference on the organisation’s recently concluded Advocacy and Fact Finding visits to Zamfara, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba and Plateau states, on Thursday in Abuja.

Onuoha also urged people of Kaduna to see the current curfew imposed by the State Government as a ” painful necessity to combat agents of destruction and prevailing insecurity.”

Similarly, he tasked the security agencies to ensure quick release of the abducted monarch in Kaduna, describing the incident as unfortunate.

“It is unfortunate that the Agom Adara, His Royal Highness, Dr Maiwada Raphael Galadima was abducted less than 48 hours after he granted audience to our team.

“While calling on the security agencies to ensure his quick release, we also pray for the safe return of the abducted monarch, ” he said.

He stressed the need for the Federal Government to increase security presence and facilities around traditional rulers that are vulnerable to attack in the country.

Onuoha called on government at all levels to be proactive in providing employment opportunities to idle youths, adding that the problem of youth restiveness caused by unemployment and mutual distrust among various groups remain a major challenge.

The cleric, therefore, advised State Governor’s and stakeholders in Zamfara, Kaduna, Taraba, Benue and Plateau states to hearken to the cry of their subjects to curtail incidence of insecurity in the state.

He said that the fact findings conducted in Zamfara by the interfaith forum revealed that there was lack of political will from the part of the State Government to end the incessant clashes between farmers and herder’s in the State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP), was founded and supported by the Vienna-based King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, known as KAICIID Dialogue Centre.

The forum supports dialogue platforms and trains peace builders globally.
