Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has celebrated the people of Kano and the electorate on Democracy Day, describing their support and prayers as the pillars of his achievements over the last three years.
Governor Yusuf saluted Kano residents for their unwavering dedication to the survival of democracy in Nigeria and promised to intensify efforts toward ensuring the delivery of the dividends of democracy across the nooks and crannies of the state.
Governor Yusuf made the declaration on the occasion of the Democracy Day celebration.
He described the celebration as a testament to citizens’ resilience in democratic governance and their enduring commitment to freedom, justice, and development in the country.
His message was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf said, “Democracy Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s democratic journey and renew our commitment to the ideals of accountability, transparency, and service to the people.”
The Governor further noted that, over the last three years, his administration has remained focused on delivering the dividends of democracy through policies and programmes designed to improve the living conditions of the people of Kano State.
He said the declaration of a State of Emergency in Education has resulted in significant investments in school infrastructure, the recruitment of qualified teachers, the provision of teaching and learning materials, the payment of examination fees, and the sponsorship of students for higher education within and outside the country.
According to him, the administration has also recorded notable achievements in the health sector through the renovation and upgrading of health facilities, the recruitment of healthcare personnel, and the expansion of access to quality healthcare services.
Governor Yusuf further highlighted the construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state, improvements in water supply, support for agricultural development, youth and women empowerment programmes, and social intervention initiatives targeted at vulnerable members of society.
He added that the government has continued to create opportunities for economic growth through policies that support businesses, encourage investments, and promote job creation.
Governor Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation to the people of Kano State for their support, cooperation, and prayers, assuring them that his administration remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and responding to the needs and aspirations of the people.
He called on residents to continue promoting peace, unity, tolerance, and respect for democratic institutions, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in a peaceful and stable environment.
He also prayed for continued peace, prosperity, and progress in Kano State and Nigeria, while wishing all citizens a memorable Democracy Day celebration.
