Trending photo: Saraki visits PDP chairman, Secondus

A photograph has been trending on social media. That is the visit of Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to the new Peoples Democratic Party Chairman, Uche Secondus at Hilton, Abuja. With Saraki at the celebration were DSP, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu and Sen. Dino Melaye.

Why the photo is of interest to observers is that, first,while Saraki belongs to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Secondus is the new chairman of the opposition party, PDP. Critics are asking what concerns a Budhist or Hindu priest with eating beef?

Those who may be accusing Saraki of anti-party activities may just perish the thought. Reason: He was in PDP before and he is alleged to still have sympathy for the party. It was even the party members in the Senate that helped to swing the Senate presidency’s vote in his favour when he faced opposition in APC.

So, the big question being asked now is that as 2019 election year is approaching, is Saraki preparing to return to PDP,  the way Atiku Abubakar did? Is he planning to vie for the presidency of Nigeria on its platform? These questions notwithstanding, Saraki has always said he belongs to APC.
