The Nassarawa State Government has denied reports making the rounds that it received N24bn from the federal government, as its share from the Paris Club refunds contrary to the N8.4bn it published. The denial was contained in a Press statement signed by Ahmed Tukur, SA Media and Publicity to Gov. Umaru Tanko Al-makura.

The social media had been washed with a report titled “Paris/London
Club Refund: Al-Makura Lied, Nasarawa Received N24 billion And Not
N8.4 billion” and credited to Labaran Maku. But Tukur says the report was invented with the intent to create disaffection and provoke the general public against the state
government.

Tukur in the statement made available to TheNews says the government has no reasons to lie on the matter and challenged those who peddle contrary figures to come out with evidences of their claims.

“For the avoidance of doubt and to set the record straight, the state government received N8.464,951,645.78 Billion from the federal government as share of the Paris
Club refund. While N5.4Billion is for the state government N3Billion is for the local
governments and to explain further, the state government has dedicated fifty percent of its share to the payment of salaries.”

Tukur therefore called on the general public to ignore and disregard the statement from people whose stock in trade he said, “is to mislead the public and create confusion in the society.”

“The public, most especially the people of Nasarawa state should consider those peddling such insinuations as street commentators out to disrespect their thoughts in this auspicious period of Christmas.” He advised the rumor peddlers to seek forgiveness from God and the people of Nassarawa State.
