Governor Okezie Ikpeazu: We have no money for polls

Governor Ikpeazu

Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday ordered the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, to vacate office  for submitting false information to contest the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary in December 2014.

Justice Okon Abang also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary.

Ogah had filed an action against the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Governor Ikpeazu.

In the suit by his counsel, Alex Izinyon (SAN), Ogar contended that by the provisions of Article 14(a) of Part IV of the PDP Electoral Guidelines for Primary Elections and Section 87(4) (B) of the Electoral Act, 2010, Ikpeazu was not qualified to contest the December 8, 2014, governorship primary poll in the state because he presented a fake tax clearance certificate in his nomination form.
