No jail break, attack in Port Harcourt: Rivers Police

The Rivers Police Command said there was no attempt to attack or break the Port Harcourt prison on Tuesday.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Ahmad Muhammad.

Muhammad was reacting to a news report allegedly aired by a Port Harcourt-based Television station on Tuesday.

‘’The Command wishes to state categorically that the story is untrue and that it did not happen at all.

‘’Members of the public are hereby enjoined to discountenance and ignore the story in its entirety,’’ he said

He urged media organisations to always verify their news stories before publication.

According to the police spokesman, a verified and confirmed story by the appropriate authorities will not create panic.
