Some new members of the Nasarawa State Executive Council on Saturday promised to block leakages in order to tackle corruption and improve on the revenue base of the state.

They made the pledge in separate interviews  in Lafia.

They also promised to explore other ways of improving revenue generation in the state considering the dwindling allocation from the Federation Account.

Dr.Dominic Bako, the new commissioner of Finance, promised to block all leakages and tackle corruption, considering its negative effect on the society.

“We were appointed by his Excellency, Gov.Tanko Al-Makura, to assist in running the affairs of the state in order to provide the much needed dividends of democracy to our people for the overall development of the country.

“As a commissioner of Fiinance, I promise to imbibe the principle of financial discipline, probity, accountability and transparency in all actions, as well as look inwards for sources of revenue.

“I will also initiate new ways that will assist the state government diversify its internally generated revenue sources”, he said.

The new commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Yusuf Aliyu-Lawee, expressed satisfaction with his new position and promised to key into President Muhammadu Buhari’s Agriculture transformation agenda.

“Focusing on Agriculture will promote economic diversification, improve the revenue base of the state, as well as ensure food sufficiency in Nasarawa and the country at large,” he said.

According to him no nation can survive without agriculture, hence the need for individuals, private organization and the government to place place priority on agriculture.

Gov.Al-makura on Friday inaugurated 16 new commissioners as members of the State Executive Council.
