Spanish champions Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of striker Fernando Torres on Monday morning in a loan deal from Italian giants AC Milan.
The 30-year old would complete a return to his boyhood club on January 5, 2015, subject to passing a medical, with the deal expected to last until the end of the next season.
Both the club and player have tweeted their delight at the deal, with Torres tweeting ”At last back home. Thanks to all that have made this dream come true.”
Torres joined AC Milan on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, scoring just one goal in 10 appearances before both clubs agreed to make the move permanent last Saturday.
That agreement has allowed the Spaniard to make the loan switch to the Vicente Calderon where he made his name as Atletico’s youngest ever captain, scoring 91 goals before joining Liverpool in 2007.
