.Jonathan, Tinubu, Amosun  send messages of sympathy

President Goodluck Jonathan and some Nigerian state governors and political leaders have commiserated with Malam Nasir El-Rufai over the death of his son, Hamza,a graduate of University of Virginia and United World College of the Atlantic.

Jonathan expressed shock over the incident.  He added that though no amount of words “can fill the deep gap created by the loss of Hamza, he hopes that the outpouring of support at this moment by friends and associates will comfort Mallam El-Rufai.”

 National leader, All Progressives Congress,APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu called  Mallam Nasir to commiserate with him,  offering soothing words from the Holy Quran.

He  prayed Allah to grant El-Rufai the strength to bear the very painful loss.

” The news of your son’s death came to me as a shock. It must have been most wrenching for you.  I feel your pain as a parent myself. I can only offer you words of consolation from Allah. He is the one who gives and takes away.  Be assured that my family and I and the APC family are with you in prayers during this very sad and painful period. God will keep you all that are left behind in his full protection and prevent further danger and deaths in your family. You must never let this put you down. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. ”

In his message of condolence, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state  expressed deep shock and heartfelt condolences to the family of the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress,APC.

El-Rufai  broke the unfortunate news of his son’s death  on Faceboook at about 8:00 am today. The announcement went viral after that, with over 1,000 shares, 9,000 likes and over 31,000 comments at 8pm today.

Nasir El-Rufai: a flood of condolences from cyberspace

The post read thus: “From Allah we came and to Him we shall return. Please join our family in praying for the repose of the soul of my son, Hamza El-Rufai who died this morning in a motor accident in Abuja.”

While some of his Facebook friends enjoined him to take heart and see the tragedy   as the wish of Allah, some mocked and threw jab at him over the loss,  citing his criticism of President Jonathan’s administration.

According to Atanda Kazeem in his Facebook post,”may almighty Allah forgive him all his sins and grant him aljannat firidaos. Sir you will never again experience this sorrow in your life. Allah is the giver and taker and for those who are happy about what happened to you, I have this for them,” all their days are numbered.”

Ossy France posted thus,”may his soul rest in peace, amen. I think this death will humble you and make you understand that nothing is permanent in this life. I hope you will not blame the president for not providing good roads.

Mokolade Olaniyi Afolayan reacted thus,”sorry for the loss of your child, may God protect other members of your family from the perils of day and night and may all of us never witness sadness in our lives. Even though some unscrupulous persons wrote unpleasant comments forgetting they will die at a time they know not, we need not deride any one with death or heaven we shall all die at our appointed time. May his soul rest in peace.

According to Izi Kigun,” may you never bury your child again. You narrated another painful loss of a daughter in your book and I can imagine the pain you are going through. May their souls rest in peace. Mallam, I urge you sir to eschew bitterness which gives birth to hatred. Speak against corruption as is your wont and above all preach peace to your colleagues (Politicians). Please accept my sympathy. – Your fan.

Olisaemeka Okonkwo stated thus,”at least President Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan is not blamed for your loss and we will get to read some good post for some time. May his soul rest in peace.

Kabir Muhammad reacted thus,”At Chrise Okorie or what ever you call yourself, why is it that you are an idiot? You look more matured like an adult but your senses are that of a child. What does this have to do with Jonathan? You can see that everybody put off his or her hatred aside sympathising wit Mr el-Rufai for his son’s death and you are bringing up political issues here. You better mind yourself before I trace you. What an illiterate.

According to Lateefat Junaid,” May Allah (swt) overlook his shortcomings and grant him Aljanat Firdaws. May He give you and your family sabr jamil and reward you all for your iman and sabr in this world and in the hereafter amin. Accept my sincere condolence brother.

Hart Ngalito in his reaction stated,”It is not unusual to observe a person explode at what appears to be a minor provocation. When the response is so disproportionate to the stimulus, most likely the anger is not at all directed toward this provocation, but it has been displaced from some other target. If the man El-Rufai share with the world his innermost concern, it’s either you sympathize with him or remain silent. His previous commentaries are directed at what he perceived to be wrong. 

“The question is, what is wrong with sharing one sadness? Or telling your friends about the death of your love one? What is the relationship between this and his national contribution? Well, I see some of you having Psychological imbalance because your comments are so disgusting. God willing, Hamza El-Rufai is in Heaven. May his Soul Rest in Peace,” Ngalito stated in his post.

Uchenna George-Nkemnacho states that,”True from Allah we came and to Him we all shall return. I join others, including your family, in praying for the repose of the soul of your Son, Hamza El-Rufai. It is, and must be, a huge tragedy both for you, your family and the entire Nigerian society. We have lost another talented young man who could have contributed immensely to our development. May his soul rest in peace.

“We lose such young talents daily. I am shocked we are not highlighting the impact these will make to our future development. Nations are built on the abundance of huge human talents, including leadership, but we are throwing ours away. Our roads, and air if I may say, have become killing grounds for our talents. It is a daily miracle for anyone of us to survive on these roads. Much has been done so far by the FRSC but a lot more needs to be further done. 

“We need to raise the consciousness of drivers on our roads. We need to invest in our roads to make them better motor able and safe. We need to enforce our traffic laws more efficiently. We need to overhaul the process of acquiring a driving license in the country. We need to overhaul the process of certifying the road worthiness of our vehicles. Yes, we need to do so much. We thank you for your contributions so far in national development and wish that your efforts towards this national development is not wasted,” he averred.

According to Chris Nwabueze Ndu,” Anyone that thinks that it is right to rejoice over a sudden death of a young man is not just foolish but inhuman. No matter what I think of Nasir El Rufai,This is a family tragedy and I wish them all God’s mercy and love at this time. We can do politics,But no one knows when death will seize them.

Amanda Chisom felt that,”It is disheartening to know that some people don’t know when to put a lid on it. Politics is politics, the loss of a child is deep. Death will come to all. Don’t gloat when it comes to another.  I pray the family find consolation, please be sensitive.
