Shooting Stars team: beaten by Kano Pillars

Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday defeated visiting Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan 2-1 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week three match.‎

Adegun Adewale scored for the visitors in the 42nd minute of the entertaining encounter with a solo effort in the match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Kano Pillars had several chances in the first half, but could not score as the visiting team’s defenders were able to hold them down.‎

However, the match’s situation changed in the second half, with substitute Adamu Mohammed equalising for Pillars in the 47th minute.

Mohammed went on to score the winning goal with a superb shot in the match’s stoppage time.

Speaking during the post-match conference, Kano Pillars’ Head Coach, Kadiri Ikhana‎, expressed delight at his team’s performance.

“It was a good match. Both teams played very well and I am very proud of my team,’’ he said.

Ikhana also commended Shooting Stars FC for their fighting spirit.

On the team’s next two away matches against Sunshine Stars of Akure and MFM FC of Lagos, Ikhana said the team would be worked upon to perform better.‎

Shooting Stars’ coach Fatai Amoo also commended his players in spite of losing the game.

He also said that he was satisfied with the officiating of the match.‎
