Manchester United Confirm Marcos Rojo Signing

Premier League club Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Argentina defender Marcos Rojo for a fee of £16m from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon in a deal that sees Man. United midfielder Nani joining Sporting on loan.

The defender, who can also play at left-back, signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils while Nani joined Sporting on a season long loan deal.

Speaking after the deal was confirmed, Rojo stated ”It is such an honour to say that I now play for Manchester United. The Premier League is the most exciting league in the world and to have the chance to play in it is a dream for me.”

The 24-year old added that ”Playing for such an experienced technical manager as Louis van Gaal is a fantastic opportunity for me. I have joined United to work hard with my team-mates to win trophies.”

Van Gaal on his part stated, ”He has the ability, physical strength and a willingness to learn that means he has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Rojo was part of Argentina’s team that reached the final of the FIFA World Cup in July before losing to Germany and was also named as one of the defenders in the Castrol Index All-Star Team of the Tournament.
