Gun duel in Kano as task force kill 9 bandits, lose one vigilante

Dusk to dawn gun duel between Nigeria military (task force) and bandits at  Bakaji and Unguwar Garma in Goron Dutse area of Shanono Local Government Area, Kano, left nine bandits dead; one Vigilante killed, and another one wounded.

The bandits who came in large numbers,  raided the area at about 12 midnight, Saturday.

Eyewitness account hinted that they were heavily armed.

“They engaged the Military in several hours of gun duel,” the Eyewitness added.

The Chairman of the Shanono/Bagwai Community Security Forum, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, also told journalists that, “the bandits, after engaging in heavy gun fire with the Military, fled the area, but with about 40 Cows. They also  abducted six persons.”

According to him,  “the Military who killed the bandits took over their motorcycles, but the criminals sneak back at about 5-6 a.m, Sunday (today), opened  heavy gun fire on the Military, but still couldn’t penetrate the area.”

Bagobiri further  lamented that, “because they came in hundreds, they still took some six persons and 40 Cows, but thanks to the Military who returned heavy gun fire, killing nine of them, and making them to abandon their motorcycles.”

The Vigilante Chief noted that, “when they returned in the morning hours, they took away the dead bodies of their people who were killed.

“Let me, honestly, commend the Military who safeguarded the area and ensure that they stopped the bandits from causing any serious havoc, they deserve huge appreciation, because, as at that time, nobody could even come out from his home.”
