Governor Yusuf plans N1.4b empowerment programme for 4,000 youths in Kano

Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has concluded plans to flag off a N1.4 billion empowerment programme to 4000 youths across the state.

Governor Yusuf, who stated this while supervising the N5 billion payment of gratuity and death benefits arrears to pensioners in the state, said his administration will also offer the monthly N50,000 empowerment grants to thousands of women across the state in the coming week.

The  N5 billion pension payment is coming on the 5th tranche of the settlement of N48 billion gratuity and death benefits owed to pensioners in Kano by previous administrations.

Already, Governor Yusuf’s administration has settled N27 billion out of the N48 billion arrears, with a strong promise to offset the remaining arrears in subsequent tranches.

Governor Yusuf said women are being offered the N50,000 grant to enable them to set up small-scale businesses that can help pick domestic bills and make themselves self-reliant.

According to him, the  N1.4 billion interest-free grant to 4000 youths selected across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state will be distributed in a grand ceremony coming up next week.

Governor Yusuf said each beneficiary will receive N350,000 as capital to establish businesses that can make them self-reliant, responsible to themselves, their families, and the society.

Governor Yusuf maintained that his administration is determined to sustain his policies and campaign promises on human development and economic empowerment, in his bid to tackle poverty and insecurity in Kano state.
