Governor Yusuf takes over responsibility of family who bears quintuplets

Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to cater for medical bills and other needs of a family whose nursing mother delivered five babies at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital.

The nursing mother, Hafsatu Yusuf, whose husband is a commercial tricycle driver, recently delivered five babies at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.

A statement issued by the Kano State Ministry of Health and made available to journalists noted that the intervention of Governor Yusuf’s administration forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen healthcare services, particularly in the area of maternal and child health.

According to the ministry, the initiative is aimed at ensuring improved care for pregnant women and newborns, while also contributing to the reduction of maternal and infant mortality rates across the state.

The husband of the woman, Malam Salisu Nufi’u, a commercial tricycle rider, expressed profound appreciation to the government for the gesture.

He described the support as timely, noting that it came at a moment when the family was in dire need of assistance.

Our Correspondent reports that both the mother and her quintuplets are currently receiving specialized medical attention from doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure their well-being.

Health officials at Murtala Mohammed Specialist hospital reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining interventions that support vulnerable families and improve access to quality healthcare services in Kano State.

Hafsatu Yusuf,  delivered the five babies—three boys and two girls—successfully, without medical hitches.
