Man in court for allegedly stealing motorcycle

A 24-year- aluminium fabricator, Segun Akinwunmi, on Wednesday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle valued at N250,000.

Akinwunmi, who resides at Awoniyi Street, Ajegunle, is facing a count charge of stealing, an offence he denied committing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 7, at 11 a.m. at Winco Street, Bakare, Ketu, Lagos.

Ihiehie said that the defendant stole the motorcycle with registration number AAA 31 QH, belonging to Mr Abdullahi Abubakar.

“The complainant parked his motorcycle at his brother’s residence, after some minutes, he saw the defendant riding the motorcycle.

“He was pursued, caught and handed over to the police,” Ihiehie said.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs H.B. Mogaji granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until April 29 for mention.
