The stage appears is set for the return of Dr. Kayode Fayemi as the executive Governor of Ekiti State.
Results of the state’s gubernatorial election held yesterday released so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission from 13 out of the 16 local governments showed that the former minister had polled 145,555 votes while his closest challenger, Professor Olusola Eleka, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 125,410.
Thus, Fayemi has had an advantage of 20,145 votes over his closest challenger.
But the Punch, based on results from the 16 local government areas declared that Fayemi polled 178,913 while Olusola scored 178,114 votes.
However, official announcement of the result is still ongoing.
