The Port Harcourt Division of Court of Appeal on Friday declared Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in a split decision of two to one.
In the majority judgment, the appellate court set aside earlier ruling of Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court in Rivers State in which former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi was declared as the caretaker chairman of the party.
Makarfi and Sheriff have been involved in a tussle over the leadership of the party, with each of them leading different factions.
