Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara are in London to see ailing Nigerian President,  Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had left Nigeria for the United Kingdom late January on a 10-day vacation that was expected to end on February 6.

The President’s media aides, in a letter sent to the National Assembly on the development had indicated that Buhari will also seek medical treatment during his stay in London.

But the Nigerian President had on February 5, 2017 written to the National Assembly informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.

The letter did not indicate when Buhari will return to the country.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been acting on behalf of the President. Nevertheless, there have been speculations on the state of health of the President since his departure, with some rogue websites indicating that he had passed on.

This is in spite of the fact that Buhari has been pictured receiving visitors, including  Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of Ogun State and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The pictures and other efforts by media aides of the President to dispel rumours about the state of health of the President have so far recorded little success.

The visit of the leaders of the National Assembly to Buhari on Wednesday will therefore be another opportunity to clear doubts on the health of the Nigerian President.

The Senate President’s team to London also includes Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf and Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan.
