UI releases admission cut-off point for 2016/2017 academic session

University of Ibadan, UI, today official released cut off points for admission into the institution for the 2016/2017 academic session. The admission process, which was based on a scoring system, was in line with the directive of the government banning the post-UTME process in all tertiary institutions.

The candidates who scored less than 200 in their JAMB examination were not considered at all while the candidates whose aggregate points in the scoring system were less than 50 were equally left out.

The merit cut-off point with the least being 50 has Medicine and Surgery with the highest with 76.75, followed by Mechanical Engineering with 72.91, Electrical and Electronics Engineering 71.62, Pharmacy 70.87, and Petroleum Engineering 70.62.

Departments with cut-off point in the 60s are: Political Science Education 60.58, Political Science 61.95, Communication and Language Arts 62.91, English Education 62.12, Economics 62.58, Microbiology 62.14, Computer Science 63.50, Law 64.95, Dentistry 64.29, Medical Laboratory Science 65.20, Economics Education 65.00, Physiotherapy 66.95, Nursing 67.00, and Civil Engineering 69.125.

Departments between 51-59 points are: Agricultural Economics 51.00, Theatre Arts, 51.91, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management 52.70, LARIS 52.20, Islamic Studies Education 52.00, Communication and Language Arts Education 52.00, History Education 52.62, Geology 52.50, Yoruba Education 53.00, Forest Resource Management 53.50, Educational Management 53.50, Christian Religious Studies Education 53.50, Chemistry Education 53.00, Mathematics Education 53.20, Industrial Chemistry 53.95, Geography Education 54.79, Food Technology 56.00, English Language and Literature 57.10 , Linguistics 57.08, Human Nutrition 57.16, Physiology 57.79, Biochemistry 58.66, and Industrial and Production Engineering 58.33.

Departments with 50.00 as the cut-off point are: Anthropology (Arts), Arabic Language and Literature, Archaeology (Arts), Classics, European Studies- French, European Studies- German, European Studies- Russian, History, Islamic Studies, Linguistics- Yoruba, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, Wildlife and Ecotourism Management, Adult Education, Guidance and Counselling, Health Education, Human Kinetics, Arabic Studies Education, French Education, Early Childhood Education, Biology Education, Physical Education, Special Education, Psychology, Anthropology (Science), Archaeology (Science), Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, Veterinary Medicine, and Wood Products Engineering.

However, the following has points a little above 50: Animal Science 50.25, Agricultural & Environmental Engineering 50.50, Agronomy 50.70, Agronomy 50.70, Animal Science 50.25, Agricultural & Environmental Engineering 50.50.
