Ahead of today’s deadline for the fixing of speed limiters on commercial vehicles across the country, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi has explained how his organisation will enforce the policy.
“We had series of meetings with transporters especially the NURTW, NARTO and NUPENG among others. What we agreed is that though there is no going back on the October 1 deadline for the speed limiter, we will start with ‘Advisory Enforcement’ which will last two weeks before we take further actions, not that we would impound every non-compliant vehicle and cripple the economy,” Oyeyemi said.
He said the policy only concerns commercial vehicles, as private cars were exempt.
On the lopsided promotion report, he said: “It is not true that a particular section of the country was side-lined, in fact if was that part of the country that has the highest numbers of promoted officers in the last exercise.”
