Ondo 2016: Akeredolu defeats Abraham, emerges APC candidate

Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, (SAN), a former President of Nigeria Bar Association was on Saturday elected the candidate of All Progressives Congress for Ondo  State gubernatorial election.

Akeredolu scored 669 votes to emerge candidate of APC in the election, defeating Segun Abraham rumoured to be favoured for the position by some party chieftains by 34 votes in the keenly contested primary.

Chief Olusola Oke came third in the primary, though he joined APC from PDP  just after the 2015 election.

Akeredolu was also the candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria which joined other parties to form APC in the 2012 presidential election.

24 persons contested for the gubernatorial ticket in the primary which ended on early Sunday morning supervised by Mohammed Abubakar, the governor of Jigawa State.

    Wait. If you understand the Ondo politics, you would know that Akeredolu is still working for Tinubu. In 2012, Akeredolu was supposedly rejected because the people said he was imposed. So they have made him seem like he was not imposed by creating all the drama and press releases. Akeredolu has zero clout. Tinubu is too smart and he always doesnt shy from stepping away from the scene for the benefit of the others.
