Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged contractors handling the River Port project in Lokoja to ensure its completion by December.

The governor gave the charge on Wednesday while inspecting ongoing works on the port.

He said that it’s quick completion would aid socio-economic development of the state.

Bello, who was conducted round the project site by the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr Boss Mustapha, said that he was eagerly awaiting the completion of the project.

He said that the port would open the economy of the North to foreign investors.

Bello commended President Mohammadu Buhari for revving the project and re-awarding it to a new contractor.

He said that the action underscored the president’s concern for the development of the state.

Bello lauded the efforts of the managing director and the entire management of NIWA for their strict supervision of the project.

Mustapha, the Managing Director of NIWA, thanked the governor for his visit, assuring that it would be completed within the scheduled period. (NAN)
