All eyes of football buffs will be turned on Old Trafford in Manchester  this afternoon as Leicester City chase history to be crowned Barclays Premier League champions today.

And they have a big obstacle in their hosts, Manchester United, 13 time BPL winners,  who are also hungry for points to claim a UEFA champions league place by finishing in the top four.

The match kicks off at 2.05pm after Swansea City  must have finished hosting visiting Liverpool.

The Foxes have the chance to become only the sixth club to win the BPL after closest challengers Tottenham Hotspur slipped up on Monday night but the Red Devils won’t roll over as they continue their chase for the top four.

Ranieri has won only two of his previous nine BPL matches as a manager against Manchester United (W2, D5, L2), with those victories coming all the way back in December 2001 and November 2003 whilst in charge of current BPL holders Chelsea.

Jamie Vardy: still suspended

Past results certainly favour the home side but ‘The Theatre of Dreams’ is no stranger to hosting matches of such enormity. Should Leicester seal the crown on Sunday it will be the fifth time the destination of the champions has been decided at Old Trafford.

The Foxes had previously lost nine BPL matches in a row against United but have now tasted defeat only once in their last three heading into Sunday’s clash. The two sides drew the reverse fixture 1-1 at the King Power Stadium – a fixture in which Jamie Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s long-standing BPL record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches.

Leicester will be without the suspended Vardy on Sunday but their victory over Swansea last time out means they have now won 22 BPL matches in 2015/16 – their highest ever tally in a top-flight season.

Conversely, United are at risk of recording their lowest points tally in a BPL campaign which currently stands at 64 from 2013/14. Louis van Gaal’s men need to win six points from their remaining four fixtures to avoid the unwanted feat and will be looking to make inroads here.

Heading into this matchday, Riyad Mahrez is currently the only player to have reached double figures for both goals (17) and assists (11) and the Algerian could get Leicester’s title challenge over the line.

But Wayne Rooney, who needs just one goal to record his 100^th in the BPL at Old Trafford, will be hopeful of scoring against the Foxes in the top flight for the first time in a Manchester United shirt.
