Ivory Coast President, Alassane Ouattara, has urged the West African sub-region to unite to defeat terrorism.
He made the call on Tuesday in Abidjan during a media broadcast and reiterated his country’s commitment to work alongside the international community to defeat the scourge.
“We shall reinforce our collaboration with sub-regional countries as well as with our international partners to jointly fight terrorism,” he said.
He urged his counterparts not to be fearful, noting that “terrorism should be fought mercilessly.”
He spoke in the wake of Al Qaeda gunmen slaying 18 people in the resort of Grand Bassam on Sunday.
