Sarafoam devastated by fire

Property worth multi-million naira was destroyed as fire razed down Sarafoam Factory at Kirikiri area of Apapa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The fire started around 1.30pm while as at 5.00pm, it has not been put off as fire servicemen and officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA battled to put out the fire.

Fire service official, LASEMA, the police and other emergency responders arrived the scene shortly after the fire broke out and condoned off the area to enable them battle the fire effectively.

General Manager, LASEMA, Michael Akindele said the  damage was colossal.

He said it was not certain what caused the fire, but noted that it was alleged to have started from the textile area of the foam industry.

Akindele stated that the fire was reported around 1:30pm and that all responders were on ground while the whole factory was affected by the fire.

 According to him, most of the materials in the factory were combustible, fueling the fire the more, but said there were no casualties and loss of lives.

Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe said the fire was so severe and that three  trucks with 10,000 litres of water each were used in battling the fire which has devastated the foam industry.
