BOBA honours Garba Shehu, NAN MD

Barewa Old Boys Association (BOBA), class 1971, on Saturday honoured Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President on Media and Alhaji Lawal Ado, Editor-in-Chief, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Others honoured by the association were Malam Balarabe Abbas, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Malam Salisu Abdullahi, Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State and Malam Usman Kabir, a serving Comptroller of Customs

Speaking at the occasion held at the old dining hall, Barewa College, Zaria, the Chairman of the association, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, congratulated the awardees for their contribution to the nation’s progress.

“We assembled in this hall for posting into various classes of form one 44 years ago, and that was the genesis of our various endeavours in life. Little did anyone know that these gentlemen we are honouring today shall grow and become not only the talk of the town, but personalities loved, respected and admired by every well-meaning Nigerian.

“I will also like to extend special apology to other members, who had since attained higher position of responsibilities in their chosen careers, but were not honoured, a very big sorry for that,” he said.

Sanusi said it was on record that some members of class 71 had since attained the positions of executive directors, managing directors and executive secretaries, among others.

“Similarly, among members of the the class, there are Traditional Rulers, Imams and many others that achieved success within the business circle.

“I will also like to express a special gratitude to members of the class and other colleagues, who are diligently contributing to national development in various aspects.”
