This may sound humorous but it is serious. It is being shared right now on on the Facebook wall of Ena Ofugara, a US based social critic. Dear reader, as Ofugara put it: “Please before you drive off, just go round your car. Some of these children get weeeeeensh or weeeeeensh dey worry them [wondering whether witchcraft is worrying some kids]. If it is not white man’s witchcraft, what is that baby doing there?”

Many Nigerians just leave their living rooms or company premises, jump into their cars or trucks without checking if kids are hiding behind the wheels.

A Pentecostal assistant pastor once gave a testimony in church how he almost pinned his toddler to the wall because as he started the vehicle, he engaged the reverse gear, not knowing that the boy was standing behind. It was a narrow escape for the lad.

It is therefore necessary to do a circle of safety check before driving off.
