Professor Albert Ilemobade, the former vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, believed kidnapped 22 June has been found dead in his home.

Contrary to the earlier story that he was kidnapped by ‘corporately’ dressed men and driven away in his car, along with the gateman and his ‘houseboy beaten mercilessly’, the body of the egg head who was VC of FUTA for eight years, 1987-1995, was found in his car park, decomposing.

The killers were his houseboy and driver. They killed the man in his bedroom and even poured diesel on the body to prevent the body from smelling.

The body was discovered today at the former VC’s residence in Ijapo, Akure, capital of Ondo State, after the police in Ogun state arrested the driver, Yemi and the gateman, Daniel while attempting to sell the stolen red Toyota RAV 4 car.

Venerable Ayodeji Fagbemi, a member of the family said some policemen from Ogun State Police Command called him after the church service that he should come to the Ijapo, Akure residence of the late don.

When he got there with some people, he met Yemi and Daniel leading police detectives to the car park where they dumped the body. “They (driver and gateman) confessed that they were the ones that killed the late Vice Chancellor and poured diesel on him so that the odour of the decomposing body could not be detected on time. Policemen had removed the remains to the mortuary for further investigation,” Fagbemi said.

But in another account, the police commissioner in the state, Mr Isaac Eke, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, said the decomposing body of Ilemobade was found in a store in his Ijapo Estate, Akure residence on Sunday evening.

Eke, said the two suspects would be transferred to Ondo State on Monday.

“After interrogation, the two suspects confessed that they killed Ilemobade and hid his corpse in a store which housed his generating set, before running away with his vehicle which they planned to sell.

“A signal was sent to us from Ogun State Command and this led to the discovery of the decomposing body of the former VC,” the commissioner said.
