The Bayelsa state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Colonel Sam Inokoba (rtd), has been sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Justice Valentine Ashi ordered Inokoba to stop parading himself as the chairman, pending the determination of the motion of notice before the court. Inokoba had earlier been suspended by the party in the state.

Inokoba, said to be an ally of Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s President and a critical pillar in the woman’s campaign to deny Governor Seriake Dickson a second term ticket, refused to vacate his seat.

However, his traducers took his case to the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Seven members of the party in the state – Cleopas Moses, Godspower Kuku, Richard Perekeme, Faith Opene, Alfred I. Atiegha, Numomikari Walter and Ikpi Patterson – went to court, seeking, among other reliefs, an order of interim injunction restraining Inokoba, his agents, privies, or appointees from parading himself as Bayelsa State PDP chairman, pending the determination of the motion on notice.

Justice Ashi concurred and ruled that an “interim order of injunction earlier granted on March 23 is hereby declared to subsist and shall remain in force as binding on the defendants pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”
