Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has inaugurated a 19-member committee to appraise the performance of his administration’s first term in office.

Al-Makura, while inaugurating the committee on Monday in Lafia, said members were technocrats drawn from all segments of the state without recourse to political party or religious leaning.

He said “this committee is saddled with the responsibility of evaluating the performance of the present administration with regards to the social, physical and economic development of the state from 2011 to date.”

According to him, the committee will also identify problems, which might have hindered the smooth implementation of government policies and programmes and recommend ways to tackle the challenges.

The governor tasked members of the committee to also look critically at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) and government companies operating in the state in order to find the best way to manage them for maximum performance.

He said the committee had six weeks to complete its assignment and submit its report.

In a related development, the governor had raised an 18-member committee to ensure a hitch-free inauguration of his second term in office to commence on May 29.

Al-Makura said members of both committees were men and women of proven integrity and urged them to give their best in the interest of the state.

NAN reports that the Appraisal Committee is chaired by Mr Jonah Ogbole, a former Commissioner with the Federal Civil Service Commission, while the Inauguration committee is chaired by Mr Silas Agara, the deputy governor-elect.
