Ambode set to be declared Lagos new governor

Sunday, April 12, 2015 2:10 am

With most of the results already collated in the governorship election in Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress, will be declared early Sunday as the governor-elect.

In the tightest governorship election, the APC candidate was able to edge out the stiff opposition of Mr. Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party, by winning about 55 per cent of the votes cast.

Agbaje got about 45 per cent of the votes, in the result shown TheNews Saturday night.

Agbaje was able to challenge the APC candidate with the massive vote of Igbo residents of Lagos, who appeared to have repeated the voting pattern exhibited two weeks ago, in the presidential election, in which they cast their ballots for the PDP.

From the results collated, the APC won in 15 local councils, while the PDP won in five. Below are the results for 12 old LGs.

  • Omo Onofin says:

The Oba of Lagos history comes from Benin. He has no land in Lagos. Oba Ado, the fisrt Oba of Lagos was sent to then Eko to collect taxes on his fathers behalf, the then Oba of Benin.
The hospitality of the Aworis (the real land owners ) welcome him, and he was ask to rule them. So he the Oba can also by revade back to Benin.

Fools that do not know what is governance. You sell your rights in the name of tribal and religious sentiment. I cannot believe that people cast their votes based on tribal and religious sentiment. The last time I checked; Nigeria practice federalism and the constitution allows citizens to reside in any state of their choice. Please wake up Nigerians and learn from the Western Europe or even North Africa.

You guys are so senseless this so called yoruba’s here. My mum is yoruba, and I am not igbo u guys are so shameless. If we all leave lagos, u guys have nothing to offer. U are the known sell out and betrayer of all time in the history of Nigeria. And the north will always use u guys and clean their anus after stooling. At least the igbo’s stand for what they believe in. What do Yoruba’s stand for trbalism and hate, gossip and inferiority complex. U can never be like the igbo’s the more u try to bring them down the more they multiply. Look every where, north, west the igbo’ s do good with their business. And the truth is as a Nigerian I am proud of the igbos cuz they are making us proud all over the world. If u find an illiterate yoruba man he is an agbero or thief! An illiterate igbo man still do well. God’s own people. Whther u guys like it or not lagos belongs to us all and the igbo’s do not need politics to be rich. U guys can’t survive without their wealth or the oil from other parts. Just shut up and go shit for shalanga. Claiming lagos. I am a lagosian come and send me parking. How much his your father’s property in lagos let pay him off. Pit toilet house abi. Do u know we must proect our investments in lagos this thief want to steal our properties. Inferiority complex people.

my sympathy would ve gone the Igbos way, bt for 50-50 law, cos no Igbo state will and can accomodate Yorubas, the way we welcome them, mind u this is nt peculiar to Igbos, we are known

for given bread to outsider bt stone to our brother, l believe Asiwaju will undone the knot that he ties, starting with Igbokwe

  • osundina adesina suleman says:

unfortunately the house we build with saliva is already crashing on our head, who gave the so call Igbo this power, your Asiwaju or watever you call his name, l am sure we have not hear the last of this drama

  • Kekedu says:

Don’t worry. Asiwaju has taken note.

  • Segun says:

‘they would still not vote ambode because they hate yorubas with passion” So Agbaje the relative of the king Akinolu is not a Yoruba man. Please grow up!!! People should be free to vote for there candidates

  • Kekedu says:

Ok. I will but that depends on Jimmy & Associates.

  • Niyi Akinlabu says:

Perhaps, you should read it when you’re less on heat.

  • Kekedu says:

Niyi, your message is mis-directed. It will pass but for now it’s fire for fire. You can’t insult my tribe and I will turn the other cheek. Enough is enough!

GLORY BE TO GOD. THIS IS HARD WON VICTORY FOR MR AMBODE DESPITE SO MANY HURDLE INCLUDING THE ISSUE ABOUT IGBO PEOPLE.

  • seyi says:

I think its high time we id who is who. These politicians will always do what it takes to maintain their interest; unfortunately such contradicts the holistic welfare of d citizens. Hence its correct to say we are the pons in d game ; they (politicians) ensure they get us in d right position that favour their game plan without considering what happens to us. What? Havent u heard of the divide and rule principle? I see no reason why they want us to blive that a victory for Agbaje is a Victory for the ibos. When he is infact a complete Yoruba man. We the electorate needs to know who the enemy really is and form a coalition to id who is more genuine in substance n purpose to lead us. Rather than tear ourselves apart based on sentiments. We’ve seen n heard more than enough to know that Ambode has no vision for us. Yet we allow him be the custodian of our resources. It a shame because we want to remain meandering about the same point.

  • Igiowoyo says:

Nigeria just like Lagos belongs to everyone irrespective of tribe or religion. What we need is to restructure the country, strengthen our institutions, introduce community policing etc. These will largely address most of the perceptions.

  • Sheik says:

Fearnorth thanks. Let the north deal with us the way they have been dealing with you people since independence the Igbo have been going with them. All what you want to die on in Lagos was achieved by the Yoruba through a stiff opposition to Federal Government while you people were dining with the same Federal gov. The Alales of Yoruba will judge you ingrate people who have decided to spit at the sources of your wherewithal.

  • Sheik says:

All was started by Asiwaju in is liberality. Go to Alausa you will see lots of these Igbo working in Alausa. Tell me the basis of appointing Igbo Commissioner in Lagos? Is it Federal allocation. Calaba was once capital of Nigeria before Lagos. Could anybody claim Uyo no man’s land.. It is high time the Youruba leaders shine their eyes and see things in the right ways so that they will not perish all our great father achieved with pains as opposition leaders be destroyed by this liberal notions.

Going by history, all the development in Ikeja and some of Mainland in the so called Lagos was achieved by Great Pa. Awolowo before politics of Federal government cut these developed area from Western region and joined them with Lagos Island and named Ikeja the Capital.

  • Sheik says:

You people stop mincing the truth with dogmatic believe of democracy. Will the Zionist who rules America where the deceit of democracy just allow anybody to rule America in mere name of democracy. Where all Nigerians really, could any tribes be allowed all these provocative claims the igbos are making in Lagos in any of IBO States. Let me tell you, it is difficult for non indegenes to acquire lands in iboland not to be claiming that they are more than Igbo indegenes in their lands. Well, it is not their fault but for the evilmineded bastard Yourubas among PDP who want power by all means who have forgotten that east or west home is home. I think all of them will go to Onitsha, Nnewi, Urlu, Our, Mnbise to go and become Obi after the election to see the genuineness of the so called fraternity With the majority Igbo who developed the Lagos as acclaimed.

  • Niyi Akinlabu says:

Thank you, Ike. Let us all stop this crass myopic tribalism. We all stop making sense whenever we resort to tribal sentimentalism in dealing with issues. It just certainly makes us blind.

Politics is not the same as importation of containers. Go and learn the rudiments of politics. You throw away Senate Presidency, House Speaker, then you turn around to complain of marginalization. So foolhardy.

  • John Williams says:

Lagos will not be conducive for your Eze Ndigbo and the leaders that lead you guys astray. Just wait and see no one will teach you to return to Aba and Okrika. You will soon hear from Oba of Lagos

  • fearnorth says:

Foolish people these Yorubas, don’t worry, d north would deal with you.

  • Trinity says:

You referred to the Igbos as mischievous, the last time I checked my statistics the Yorubas are the mischievous ones in Lagos, they engage themselves in all sort of nuisance activities. And being enemy to progress you know it is the Yorubas who at any slight opportunity likes to hinder progressive work. So my dear before you decide to post on social media, research properly

  • Trinity says:

Being jugdemental is wrong, you guys are talking bad about Igbo’s that they come to your land and make wealth, what are you lagosians doing when the Igbos that you referred to as Egyptians make does wealth in your land. They have invested in your land and have turned your land into paradise why you lazy about looking for easy money here and there, and you that is talking about trust, who is begging you to trust the Igbos, thats your own headache, talking about the election, you as a citizen has the right to vote for who ever you like. So little minded lagosians grow up and work hard like the Igbos, if you want to kick “Igbos out of Lagos” which you and I know is impossible.

  • Proudly IGBO says:

Bola you simply need to grow up and start looking past your nose.please don’t blame the zig is for you shortsightedness .

  • Ikem says:

Harry you are acting like a child and ur surely not far from it. The last time I checked Jimi Agbaje was from Lagos and that makes him a yoruba man too. Pple have the right to vote for whom they deem fit. You might as well put a gun to the heads of ibos and force them to vote who you want and not who they want. You claim they make money from the land but you forget they also pay tax. I suggest you grow up and stop making childish statements. Not that what you say has any relevance anyway.

  • ike says:

Harry you need to grow up. Being nasty to a particular ethnic group in the polity will not lead you anywhere. I don’t have any interest in politics and who wins doesn’t matter to me either as long as the govt leads well.

  • Bola says:

If you can`t beat them , you join them. igbos failed to adhere to that principle, they have just boxed themselves to a corner, a land where your business thrives isn`t where you should show you disloyalty openly. The bad igbos have rubbished the trust among their good ones. For me to trust Ibo man again, its Akuko

  • Harry says:

HELL WITH YOU AND UR MISCHIEVOUS TRIBE CALLED IGBO

  • Harry says:

I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE I WILL REPEAT AGAIN IGBO NATION OR WHATEVER THEY CALLED THEM ARE MISCHIEVOUS AND BETRAYALS, IT IS HIGH TIME WE SEND THEM OUT OF LAGOS TO THEIR JUNGLE IN THE SE AND SS…..WE DON’T NEED DESTITUTE IN LAGOS…THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND ENEMIES OF PROGRESS

Guest, you’ve been my companion since the beginning of this race last year. Thanks for always liking my comments, though you hardly make any in this forum. I really appreciate. You’re a visioner, just like I am. This marks the end of the journey in the 2015 political process. Please leave igbos alone. Just like I said a few days ago, they’re spoilers. Even if akiolu didn’t make that unfortunate comment, which we had all condemned in strong terms, they would still not vote ambode because they hate yorubas with passion. When you hate your neighbour who cares for you, who covers you with clothes when you’re cold, who feeds you when you’re hungry, you can imagine what our able God can do in response. They live with us, make their fortune on our soils without any fear of intimidation, drive on lagos road lit with electricity, they sleep like babies because the environment is secure, contrary to kidnap and armed robbery cases that have engulfed their land back home, their kids enjoy free medical care under free Healthcare for kids and elderly programme In general hospitals, their aged parents are also treated free under the same programme, they still went ahead and voted against our candidate out of hate and sentiments, when they knew PDP doesn’t have any viable programme for them. I’ve never seen such an ingrate tribe in my life. Fortunately for them, Ambode’s apc government doesn’t discriminate. We will still include igbo in our commissioner and other political positions as usual. We are the istrael of our time, God has made us so, Nationwide. Until buhari agreed to join forces with us, he was always losing. Eko Oni baje oo. Change is here.
