Members INEC NYSC being taken to polling Unit by Trucks

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared that it was ready to conduct free, fair and credible elections in Enugu State.

It also said it has distributed all the sensitive materials to all the polling units across the state and their staff was ready.

However, the ad-hoc members comprising members of NYSC are stranded at the INEC office over non-availability of vehicles to take them to their various units in the state.

Making this known, the Director of INEC Information, Dr. Anthonia Ekwo, said the total number of permanent Voter cards, PVCs, registered in the state was 1,412,518 and the number of PVC collected was 1,26,0496.

She explained that the number of females who collected their PVCs was 655,725 while number of males was 604,773.

She said the percentage of distributed PVC in the state was 89 and undistributed PVC was 152,022 which is 11 percent.

As at the 9:00 am most of the polling units were yet to commence accreditation given the slow start.

The INEC ad-hoc members were stranded as there is not available vehicles to take them to various polling units in the state.

When the situation became worse, the INEC had to make arrangement to carry most of them on trucks.
