The attack came shortly after the community celebrated Christmas with fanfare.

Security sources who declined to be named said the community usually organized dances amongst children, youths and the aged during the yuletide in the area.

Local government chairman in charge of the Nasiru Harande area, who also confirmed the attack, described the incident as “unfortunate” and said the attackers fled to an unknown destination.

Mike Sanga, a community leader from the area, said the attack took place in a shop where some men were relaxing after a hectic dance.
