Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has charged supervising officers on the need to uphold professionalism, accountability, patriotism, and the tenets of community policing while discharging their official duties.
The Kano police boss reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and community-oriented policing in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police.
He stated this when he convened a strategic meeting with all supervising officers of the Command at the Command Headquarters, Bompai, Kano.
The meeting was aimed at reviewing operational strategies, reinforcing discipline, and aligning the Command’s actions with the directives of the Force Headquarters.
In his remarks, CP Bakori conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the officers for their dedication, sacrifice, and measurable gains in crime fighting, management, and control across Kano State.
He noted that the recent successes recorded in intelligence-led operations, arms recovery, and rapid response were direct outcomes of improved coordination and professionalism at the supervisory level.
The Commissioner issued clear directives to the officers to:
Key into the IGP’s vision by upholding accountability, transparency, and integrity in all operations and administrative processes.
Strengthen community policing engagements through regular stakeholder meetings, intelligence sharing, and collaborative problem-solving with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to foster public trust and confidence.
Remain firm and decisive in professional decisions, resist external influence, and ensure that all actions are guided by the Rule of Law and respect for human rights.
Fear God and act as custodians of public trust, maintaining discipline, neutrality, and exemplary conduct at all times.
Enhance supervision and mentorship of junior officers to eliminate unprofessional conduct and ensure quality service delivery at divisional and outstation levels.
CP Bakori emphasized that the IGP’s directive on enhanced community policing is central to modern policing and crime prevention.
He urged officers to deepen engagements with communities, be accessible, and treat members of the public with courtesy and dignity.
The Commissioner of Police, however, warned that any officer found wanting in professionalism, extortion, abuse of power, or dereliction of duty would face appropriate disciplinary measures without exception.
He reiterated that the Command under his watch will continue to reward diligence and sanction misconduct.
He concluded by calling on residents of Kano State to sustain their cooperation with the Police by providing timely and credible information to aid proactive policing.
He said the Kano State Police Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, maintain law and order, and build a safer, more secure Kano for all.
