The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Ogun 1 Command has made significant seizures of contraband goods, including 16 pieces of Heroin and 3,373 wraps of Cannabis Sativa, with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N1.58 billion.
The seizures were made between December 4 and 15, 2025, in various locations within Ogun State, including Lusada/Ado-Odo axis, Abule Kazeem/Igbo-Ora road, and Idiroko Owode axis.
Comptroller Oladapo O. Afeni, the Controller in charge of Ogun Area 1 command, revealed that the efforts of the command under the leadership of the Customs Controller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, aimed to protect vulnerable populations, particularly given the country’s overstretched health service and support.
Afeni noted that according to the UNODC’s World Drug Report published in June 2025, one in three Cannabis users reports needing treatment or counseling, underscoring the importance of these seizures.
The seized Cannabis Sativa will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action, demonstrating inter-agency synergy and collaboration.
The Command has also generated N27,291,861.00 in revenue as of December 16, 2025, through the diligence of its officers and cooperation of compliant traders.
Afeni commended the effort of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his leadership and support, which have redefined operational effectiveness and motivated excellence across Commands nationwide.
The NCS Ogun 1 Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its efforts against smugglers and protecting the nation’s economic and security interests.
Seizures includes:4,998 cartons of spaghetti,2,200 kegs of vegetable oil,11 wraps of Crystal Meth,16 pieces of Heroine, 3,373 wraps of Cannabis Sativa,6,750 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 4,738 bags of foreign parboiled rice,2 units of foreign-used vehicles,8 units of means of conveyance,309 of used pneumatic tires.
