The air of insecurity blowing across Kogi State has swept five indigines of Magongo, in Ogori/Magongo Local Government, into captivity. They were abducted and whisked to an unknown destination on Monday night.

The National President of the Magongo Development Association (MDA), Prince Jordan Akpata, confirmed the incident in a media interaction on Tuesday.

According to him, the victims were returning from a wedding ceremony in Jos, Plateau State, when they were kidnapped at 8 p.m. on Monday, just a few kilometres from Magongo.

Akpata appealed to the Kogi State Government and security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure the safe rescue of the abducted citizens and douse the tension created by the sad development.

The police had yet to state the breach at the time of filing this report.
