Liberia, yesterday, December 6, 2025, stood still in green colour attired by ruling Unity Party supporters.Tagged “home coming”, it was the launching of the new party headquarters in Monrovia.
President Joseph Boakai, looking high spirited, used the glamorous occasion to express his deepest appreciation on the party’s leadership, under the watch of Hon Luther Tarpeh. President Boakai also catalogued Liberia’s growing international repute of recently.
“Liberia is now re-elected to category A of the International Maritime Organisation, IMO, 2026-2027”, meaning the country is at the center of global policy making.
He went further to remark that in January 2026, ” Liberia will be officially inaugurated as a non -permanent member of the UN Security Council, where global conflicts are debated and resolutions are crafted”.
This means Liberia now seats with dignity among nations, contributing to critical and burning decisions that affect global peace, stability and development.
On the home front, President Boakai revealed the growing economic renewal, translating into job creation, trooping of foreign investors into the country, due to increase confidence in governance.
This has reflected in market price stability and accessibility of roads nationwide, making dignity to be restored, he continued.
What surprises many, including foreign and local journalists, diplomats, and civil society activists, is the President extending appreciation to opposition and independent politicians, law makers, who graced the occasion.
This surprise gesture implies President Boakai is a unifier. In an exclusive interview with this medium in August 2024, he remarked: “My passion is to develop Liberia’s political affiliation as we are one people, to love and develop Liberia, to regain its past glory.”
Liberia is a rich resourced country, peopled with men and women of expressive personalities. It is the oldest African country, the only African country that took part in the formation of the world League of Nations, that later became the United Nations in 1945.
