2027: Abuja ICA mobilises Igbos to get PVC

The leadership of the Igbo Community Association (ICA) in Abuja has called on the Igbos to empower themselves with the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) during the ongoing continuous voters registration exercise.

ICA President-General in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, insisted that the collection of PVC by Igbo eligible voters will delete the much-touted political irrelevance of the Igbo race.

Ikenna told the Igbos that: “Your PVC is your key to making your voice heard in our democratic process. We urge every eligible voter, in these states, to seize this opportunity to register, update their information, collect their PVCs and actively participate in shaping their future.”

Abuja ICA further called on the Igbo-speaking people resident in the 19 northern states of Nigeria to unite and empower themselves with their PVC  to properly participate in the electoral exercise as full citizens and Patriots of Nigeria.

The call was made following a closed-door meeting in Kano state on September 1, 2025, where the President General of Igbo Community Association FCT,  Engr Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, called for the Igbo-speaking people to seize the opportunity to obtain their voter’s card during this period that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its continuous voters registration exercise.

“It is highly important that our people come out and register to vote this time around. Nigeria is at a point in history where the Igbo-speaking people must participate and show our capacity. We can no longer stay in the corridors,” Ikenna said.

The Abuja-based Igbo leader also called on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,  Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to cue into the process to help the Igbo-speaking communities around the country join and participate fully in the democratic process.

“We must disregard the previous call not to participate in the electoral process in Nigeria. We are Nigerians, and we must participate in the democratic process. Not participating has not earned us any quantifiable gains. Now, we must turn to another option,  a better option,” he added.

Ikenna explained that the Igbo Community Association FCT represents an estimated 3.5million Igbos in the Federal Capital Territory. Our target is to get 70% of us registered to vote with their PIVCs.”

He called on the various Igbo leaders across the 19 northern states to cue in behind the call to encourage our people to register to vote.
