Police have arrested 28 thugs during an intensive three-day raid coordinated by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, within Kano metropolis.
The raid tagged “Operation Kukan Kura” fished out daredevil thugs in notorious hideouts.
The operation, conducted from Saturday, 12th to Monday, 14th of July, 2025, aimed to curb thuggery-related offences. It was part of a community-centred initiative that encouraged public participation in crime fighting, prevention, management, and control.
During the operation, the Command’s Operational Commanders, led by CP Bakori, worked tirelessly to ensure that the remnants of thuggery-related offences were addressed.
The state Command Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, told journalists that: “Notably, the operation yielded impressive results of the arrest of 28 suspects and recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs, with no reported cases of undetected mobile phone robbery or theft recorded throughout the State.”
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their commitment and dedication to duty, charging them to sustain the tempo in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Kano State.
Kiyawa said the success of “Operation Kukan Kura” is a testament to the Command’s resolve to engage with the community and work collaboratively to prevent and control crimes.
” The Kano State Police Command appreciates the support and cooperation of members of the public and urges everyone to continue reporting suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or through our emergency contact numbers,” he added.
Kiyawa further stated that, “the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and residents of Kano State.”
