‎The Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (JG-PCACC)  has entered into a partnership with the Public Complaint Commission (PCC) in its bid to ensure accountability and transparency in the business of governance.

‎The JG-PCACC  Chairman,  Bar. Salisu Abdu led members of his management team on a courtesy visit to PCC headquarters in Abuja to Identify and close ties with the PCC stakeholders as well as explore areas of collaboration and cooperation between the two commissions.

‎Bar.  Abdu, who emphasised the importance of synergy between sister agencies, said the objective of the ombudsman agencies is to prevent abuse of power and maladministration in government agencies and public institutions.

‎”We believe that by working together, we can achieve more and create a better society for all. Our visit today is a testament to our commitment to collaboration and our determination to rid Jigawa State of any form of injustice,” he said.

‎Bar.  Abdu also told the Chief Commissioner and Chief  Ombudsman of the Federation that his agency, being new, needed to leverage the experiences of sister agencies, which were already established in areas of staff training and technical support.

‎”We feel your commission can help us with advice, training and technical support on best practices in handling public complaints due to your experiences over the years,”  he added.

‎The chairman also explained that JG-PCACC has dual functions that comprise receiving public complaints and anti-corruption issues,  noting that reasonable progress has been made from inception.

He further revealed that  the commission  has received over 150 complaints,  which, according to him, a number of them have been resolved amicably

‎” I am pleased to say that we are very effective in public complaints aspect that from inception we have received over 150 cases comprising marital issues, Inheritance, debts recovery, transaction disputes, among others, and a number of them have been resolved,”  said the  JG-PCACC chairman.

‎In his response, the Chief Commissioner of the PCC, Hon. Bashir Abubakar,  welcomed the Jigawa State Public Complaint and Anti Corruption management team to his office.

‎ Bashir, who narrated the history of the  PCC, said it was established in 1975, noting that the effectiveness of using the Ombudsman system in resolving conflicts remains result-oriented.

‎ “The new order now is how many cases you solve amicably, not how many prison yards you built,” he added.

‎He, therefore, counselled the JG-PCACC team on the need to maintain high standard, personal cum corporate integrity to be able to operate effectively.

‎”Jigawa State is one most peaceful state, but you can help the state to achieve even more when you leverage on ICT to make lodging of complaints much easier and also make sure you make your presence in all nook and cranny of Jigawa state,” he said.

‎ Bashir, therefore, assured the management team of  JG-PCACC of his commission’s support and assistance in the discharge of its mandate.

‎Head of Public Affairs, JG-PCACC, indicated that “during the visit, the JG-PCACC team held discussions with the PCC on ways to enhance their working relationship, share best practices, and leverage each other’s strengths to achieve common goals.”

‎Meanwhile, Bar.  Salisu visited the former Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC), Bar. EKpo Nta in his office.

‎Nta, who is the current Chairman of the National Salary, Income and Wages Commission, was instrumental in a lot of the reforms in the ICPC during his tenure at the commission.

‎They held discussions, as the former ICPC boss advised the JG-PCACC management team on areas of planning and strategy.

‎ Bar. Nta thanked the JG-PCACC for the visit and assured the commission of his support, especially in areas of staff productivity, audit and strategic planning.

‎”These courtesy visits underscore the present leadership of  JG-PCACC’s commitment to building a formidable team that will foster transparency, accountability, and good governance in Jigawa State,” Yusuf’s statement added.
