The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State says it will meet with stakeholders in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency on Thursday over the pending supplementary election in the constituency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Feb. 23 National Assembly election in the constituency was declared inconclusive by the electoral umpire and no date has been fixed for the poll.
NAN also reports that the commission had said that it would hold supplementary elections in 71 Polling Units across eight wards of Ajeromi-Ifelodun with total registered voters of 8,984.
“INEC Lagos State will on Thursday, April 11, 2019 meet with the relevant stakeholders in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency 1 to deliberate on the pending supplementary election in the constituency.
“The venue is the INEC office in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government,” the Spokesman of INEC, Lagos State, Mr Femi Akinbiyi, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Akinbiyi said that the event would hold at 11:00 a.m.
The spokesman, who said that no date had been fixed for the poll, expressed the commission’s readiness to conclude the election in a peaceful atmosphere, with the cooperation of the stakeholders.
