My security details now restored- Kogi Deputy Governor

kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba has said his security details earlier withdrawn has been restored after after raising alarm on the matter..

This is contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Akor Sylvester and made available to newsmen in Lokoja today. In the statement, the Deputy Governor said his security details were restored in full yesterday night and they have since resumed duties.

He commended the Inspector General of Police and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police for their responses.

The Deputy Governor enjoined the Police State Command to monitor its operatives and subordinate officers they send to sensitive duty posts to guide them against being used for unlawful assignments that could tarnish the image of the police.

He also commended the Press for their courage and professionalism which principally assisted in getting the information out to the public. TheNews reports that there have been no good relationship between Achuba and his principal, Governor Yahaya Bello over undisclosed differences.

It would be recalled that Achuba cried out last weekend that his life was not safe following an impromptu withdrawal of his security details, hours to the rescheduled general elections. He said the security details were wirhdrawn and detained in Government House.

According to Achuba, ” At about 10:00am on fifteen of February, a day to election. My ADC and other security aides were called to the government house for security briefing shortly before my departure to the village.

” I obliged them to go and come back on time so that we can travel. But when the got to government house. The ADC handed them over to O/C SARS where they have been kept incommunicado.

” They were asked to make statements regarding gun running and since then they have been kept in detention till date. I called the O/C SARS and commissioner of police to intimate them of the development. They all said they will look into it but as I speak to you, they are still kept in custody..Achuba told journalists.

with the new development, the Deputy Governor may now be able to sleep with his two eyes closed.
