Three days after unknown gunmen attacked a commercial bus,on Monday January 28, killing its driver and two passengers on the spot before abducting the remaining passengers in the Rumuekpe -Ndele area of the East – West Road, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, the State Police command is yet to find a lead to that will help rescue the kidnapped passengers.

Investigation by our Correspondent in Port Harcourt revealed that the whereabouts of the passengers who were  traveling to Port Harcourt , from Warri in Delta State, before they were attacked in the early hours of Monday remained unknown as the kidnappers have also not made demand for ransom.

Similarly, 12 days after kidnappers abduction of Dr Anugbum Onuoha, the Special Adviser on Lands to Governor Nyesom Wikeat Ada George road in Port Harcourt his whereabouts is still unknown.

Rivers Police Public Relations officer ( PPRO) , Nnamdi Omoni, had assured on the day of the incident that the Command made contact with sister security agencies and other security stakeholders with the aim of ensuring speedy and timely release of the victim.

“This is unfortunate , and as a Command, we are touched by this development and will go all out to ensure his speedy and timely release .

“The commissioner of police has given a marching order to all the Tactical Units, including the IGP (Inspector – General of Police ) Monitoring Unit to work round the clock and ensure that the victim is released in record time .

“Contacts have been made with sister security agencies and other security stakeholders in this direction. The Command wishes to appeal to the members of the public, to avail us with useful information that can lead to his unconditional release.

“The public is hereby assured that there is no cause for alarm, as the already existing peace in the state will be sustained. ”

But despite the assurances, the passengers and the Governor’s aide are still missing.

It was also gathered that Anugbum Onuoha is also from the same place with the Governor from the Rumueprikom Kingdom in Obio /Akpor local government area of the state.

Meanwhile,the Rumueprikom kingdom Council of Chiefs Kingdom in Port Harcourt, through its chairman , Chief Hon Prince Weli -Wosu and two others , have appealed to the kidnappers to release their son unconditionally.

“On behalf of the elders , chiefs and the entire people of Rumuepirikom Kingdom, council wishes to state that we are pained that one of our sons, Chief Barr Anugbum Onuoha JP, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen , yesterday .

“Dr Anugbum Onuoha, as it is well known , is a peace loving individual , friend and lover of all. We urge those responsible for such act to release him unconditionally. ”

Another source stated that no word has been heard from remaining passengers who were immediately taken through a nearby bush and their captors.
