The Ogun State chapter of Accord Party has reiterated that its governorship candidate is Sir Tope Tokoya.

The party, in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Asojuoba Micheal Adesanya therefore affirmed that it has not endorsed any other candidate apart from Sir Tokoya.

“There has never been any question that Pastor (Sir) Tope Tokoya is the elected gubernatorial candidate of ACCORD, Ogun State,” the party said while dismissing a press release signed by one Hon. Jimoh Sobowale who claimed to be the State Assistant Secretary.

Sobowale had claimed in the press release that a vote of no confidence was passed against the gubernatorial candidate at a meeting held on 14th January, 2019.

“We (6 out of 11) State Working Committee members and (15 out of 20) local government chairmen hereby wish to categorically state that the State Chairman has not called a meeting of the State Working Committee in the last six months, hence we can confirm that there could not have been a resolution to have a vote of no confidence on the gubernatorial candidature of Pastor (Sir) Tope Tokoya.

“Furthermore there was no resolution at any State Working Committee or Executive meeting to embark on any anti -party activities of working for other gubernatorial candidates from other political parties.

“Those presently involved in anti party activities are no longer members of ACCORD, Ogun State, as some have resigned their membership of ACCORD, some are suspended while someone in particular is a wife of a candidate in another political party.

In fact, one of the anti party group has been dismissed by his ward in Sagamu local government area.

“Finally, we will like to state unequivocally that we are satisfied with the progress made thus far by the party gubernatorial candidate, Pastor (Sir) Tope Tokoya.

“We wholeheartedly support the unusual but unique strategy adopted by his campaign organization.

“The exit of the anti party State Officers has opened doors for various political gladiators who have hitherto refused to join ACCORD due to the presence of these ex- ACCORD members.

“In conclusion, we call on all our party members, well wishers and supporters to stay resolute and stand by integrity and believe in God’s mandate of Pastor ( Sir) Tope Tokoya’s victory at the polls.”
