The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday flagged off its campaign ahead of the 2019 general elections, with its Chairman, Mr Francis Orugu, tasking all members to deliver their polling units.

“If everyone can deliver his or her polling unit, we shall record total success in 2019,” Orugu told the party faithful at the ceremony in Lafia.

He said that the PDP had a “bright” chance of sweeping the polls if the members worked hard to convince voters to use their voting cards to effect a change.

Orugu said that the exercise would be replicated in the three senatorial zones, the 13 local governments and the 18 Development Areas.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the Chairman, at the ceremony, presented the flag of the party to all its candidates contesting various positions in the state.

In a brief speech, Mr David Ombugadu, the party’s governorship candidate, appealed to the people of the state to vote for him to enable him reposition and transform the north-central state.

He promised to declare a state of emergency in all sectors, and decried the poor quality of schools,  insecurity, non-payment of salaries, lack of promotion to workers, among other concerns of residents of the state.

“The issues are many; practically every sector is hit, But I offer my self to serve the state and shall do so faithfully if voted in,” he said.
