Some Nigerian Political Parties

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to presidential candidates of political parties to shun hate speeches and violence during the course of their campaigns.

NANS’ National Public Relations Officer, Bestman Okereafor, made the appeal in a statement issued on Monday in Enugu.

Okereafor also called on security formations to improve on their performances during the electioneering period to maintain law and order.

He stated that “the leadership of the apex students’ body, NANS, wishes to congratulate all political parties for the good, peaceful and fair conduct of their presidential primaries.”

He, however, appealed to the party flagbearers to campaign with decency while shunning vote buying and selling.

He added that “NANS leadership is set to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission and organised civil societies in the aspect of massive voters sensitisation and enlightenment.

“As a non-partisan but formidable body and major determinant of elections, we pray that Almighty God will give victory to a progressive-minded leader who will take us to the promise land.”
