Man, 35, in court for alleged stealing

A 35-year-old unemployed Ezekiel Olatoye, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing goods worth N1.67 million.

Olatoye, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 22 at 1, Osholigbehin Street in Ikorodu.

Agoi said that the accused stole 27 bottles of a cognac drink, Hennessy, valued N498,150, 39 bottles of Moet drink worth N846,300 and 47 bottles of Jack Daniels drink valued N328,000.

He said the total worth of the drinks amounted to N1, 672, 450, property of Price Right Supermarket.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Thee Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. R. Onilogbo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Nov. 25 for further hearing.
